Welcome to developinganaesthesia
This website has been created to promote the advancement of anaesthetic practice and to empower anaesthetists in countries with limited resources. A web-based resource has significant advantages. The information provided can remain current and be tailored to the requirements of the community. Hard copy texts may be expensive, difficult to access and inappropriate to the delivery of anaesthesia outside of resource rich institutions. Within developinganaesthesia.org users may view information on the website or download the material. It is designed to share resources which we have created for anaesthesia education. Developinganesthesia.org contains several resources including the textbook, developingaanesthesia, specialist area seminars and the modular anaesthetic training program, which was produced to enhance training in Mongolia. Educational resources on developinganaesthesia.org may be read on line or freely downloaded. |

New to developinganaesthesia
Developinganaesthesia textbook is undergoing an extensive rewrite. Uncorrected proofs of chapters are now available and will be replaced with the final version that include typesetting, copy-editing and author corrections.
Developinganaesthesia now contains an extensive and evolving section on emergency clinical guidelines.
Initial Emergency Care has been developed to improve the initial care of patients presenting to emergency and primary care providers in resource-limited settings. It is intended that the health care worker will gain the skills to administer first aid, and to be able to perform an initial assessment and treatment of life-threatening or limb-threatening conditions prior to referral to definitive care at the same or a different medical facility.
